Yes, it's fine to pressure wash a driveway or patio but precautions should be taken.
Pressure washers are powerful and exert a tremendous amount of force on surfaces during the cleaning process. Pressure washing relies on brute force to remove dirt & grime residing on the surface and therefore surfaces should be inspected for any defects to prevent causing any damage.
In some cases, it can be beneficial to pressure wash surfaces that are not in a good state of repair for example mortar between the joints of patio slabs. If the mortar is cracked or loose it needs removing and repointing. Pressure washing the joints will remove the mortar and provide a nice clean mortar free joint ready for repointing. Extreme caution must be taken when performing this task as a rouge piece of mortar traveling at high velocity isn't a great combination when combined with a window or the body work of a car. Inevitably the result will cause a window to break or cause chips and dents in the bodywork of a car.
The type of surface also needs to be considered as it may be better suited to power washing or steam cleaning as more delicate surfaces benefit from a gentle touch. Find out more about Power washing & Steam cleaning by clicking here.
The cost to clean a driveway depends on many different factors. The main factors that influence the cost of cleaning are:
The size of the area.
The condition of surfaces.
The type of service e.g. pressure washing, power washing or steam cleaning. Find out more about power washing & steam cleaning by clicking here.
Any additional requirements to clean surfaces e.g. Pre or Post cleaning treatments. To learn more about Pre & Post treatments click here.
Access to the area.
Any safety measures that have to be taken e.g. protecting structural elements such as windows & doors.
Is there a water supply readily available.
Therefore, unfortunately it isn't possible to give a one price fits all figure.
